Eddie "Guitar Slim" Jones - Chronological 1951 - 1958

53 tracks and about 2¼ hours of music. Eddie died young and didn't do many recording sessions, but he was well-known to R&B audiences and his showmanship was very influential on other performers who went on to become big acts. There's a bit of conflicting information about the details of his recordings. A few songs were later released with some added instruments and echo, etc. as well as the original recordings without additional polishing. I've never been too bothered about pre-take chatter caught on the tape and rather than using my eyes to select what to keep in my Guitar Slim collection, I just used my ears. I recall playing two tracks side-by-side, measure-by-measure and was almost convinced they were the same recording until late in the song he sang an embellishment word like and or well (or something) which wasn't in the other recording, so they were different (or one had that sound removed) and there may be similar differences in some recordings but I'm not too concerned about it.
