Hi, Is there a prize for spotting the deliberate mistake on the cover (& tags) of this one?
I can’t see “Where Are You” on Betty Everett – or am I just missing it?
I’m not trying to be critical – just want to help as I know the problems of compiling these and congratulate you for what you’ve done
A couple of questions: 1) which LP/CD does “The Right Kind Of Lovin (Take 1)’ on CD1 come from? 2) where did you obtain the order of Betty’s VJ songs from? - I’m not aware of this being published.
Also I think the Toons are great and look forward to more of these as well as the CDs
The discogs show Where Are You? as being unissued. Is that an error? I can't search my Betty Everett files at the moment as I'm in the middle of a massive data transfer. If it was issued I may have it, but I don't see it listed on any Betty singles or LP's for Vee-Jay. The Vee-Jay stuff either came from various comps, original vinyl or re-issue vinyl. I had most of her Vee-Jay singles and LP's. Again, I can't access my music hard drives at the moment but I believe Take 1 of The Right Kind of Lovin' is from a Lucky Millinder CD issued by Charly about 30 years ago. I also don't want to incriminate myself. .......and these are fake CD's because another blog had rules about 25 songs per post or something so I presented stuff as "FAKE CD's" more as a joke, although it is a good way to show content details.
“Where are You” is on ‘Woman With Soul’ VJS 7307 (1977) and ‘Mistress of Melody’ AV-5009 (1984) neither of which I have.
Thanks for the lead on Lucky Millinder – I’ve found it! My interest in him (and others) is from a sessionography viewpoint as I like to (at least) include the first issue of tracks.
I appreciate the humour with Fake (on same lines as Warped) and I’m not worried about number of tracks per CD. The deliberate mistake I was referring to was spelling – Anisteen rather than Annisteen (the spines are correct).
I don't have either of those LP's but just found a cheap copy of one of them so will update it after it arrives. I don't have Betty's 1980 single either. All I could ever find were double-A-sided promo's so I didn't bother.
I'm planning on posting my Lucky folder soon as well as Roy Milton, Roy Brown, John Greer, Margie Day and some others I put together about 20 years ago. I've been picking away at them....double-checking, tagging, etc.
I recall removing the N from Annisteen just before zipping and uploading those folders. It didn't look right to me for some reason. What was the story? Something about Lucky Millinder changed her name from Ernestine in honor of his hometown Anniston, Alabama....or something.
Yes, that was essentially the story - with 'teen' instead of 'ton' to make it a bit hipper/contemporary. Can't help with the single - I generally draw a line around 1970, helps to keep things simpler. I'll look forward to those comps - particularly Margie Day as I haven't heard much of hers. Thanks again.
