Ramblin' Jimmie Dolan - Chronological 1947 - 1955 Vol. 1

Rockandroll, rhythmandblues, countryandwestern..........some of the main music genres of the last half of the 20th century seemed to morph into single words with the "and" becoming meaningless.
Personally, I've always enjoyed rhythm more than blues and when listening to music from the late 40's to early 50's much prefer western to country. For that matter, well beyond those years, I'd take Bakersfield over Nashville any day.
Way back in the late 50's I had a couple of Capitol Ramblin' Jimmie Dolan singles (Hot Rod Race and Rack Up The Balls), which is interesting in that I didn't really have much regard for recorded music until 1964. Up to that point, although there were songs I liked, it was basically just noise coming out of the radio in between the news and commercials. It didn't excite me until '64.
Quite a few years ago I began keeping an eye out for Jimmie Dolan singles. At the time I wasn't aware of his Modern and 4-Star recordings. Eventually I seemed to have tracked down all of them in either 7 or 10 inch as no new ones were found for several years.
About 20 years ago a German label released a CD of some of those sides and it was great to get clean copies of those songs as well as some that were never issued. It was right around that time that I was first able to transfer vinyl to digital and edit them with software being developed by a big Japanese company.
Then another label released a CD that contained some of the Modern sides.
I shared this on other blogs several years ago and someone told me they've seen it on blogs since, but I thought I'd put it up here anyway as I've cleaned up the tags, labels and levels to make it more uniform.

Lost TV comedy 26

This UK comedy from 1980 was from the same team that did the excellent 'Allo 'Allo! and Are You Being Served? It only lasted the one series. Since the storyline of the show wasn't resolved at the end I would say another series had been planned, but Harry Worth, who played the central character and was only about 60 when it was shot, was in bad health and never again appeared on television. Factor in David Croft being tied up with It Ain't Half Hot Mum, Are You Being Served?, Hi-de-Hi! and in-development 'Allo 'Allo! all in the early 80's, something had to give.
