Mining the Charts - Billboard's Hits of the World supplement for Summer 1966

The Lovin' Spoonful had a hit in Sweden with a track from their 2nd LP that was issued as a single there and nowhere else......for good reason. I can't understand what the Swedes liked about it. The Hollies hit in Sweden with their cover version of Peter, Paul & Mary's Very Last Day, which appears to have been issued as a single only in the Scandinavian countries and Germany. The Tages had a hit with In My Dreams, which is a decent light pop song for 1966.

Local Singapore acts The Quests and Naomi & The Boys each had decent hits there while UK band The Shadows hit in Malaysia with Will You Be There and over in Hong Kong The Astro-Notes hit with My Baby Treated Me Cool.

Ireland had its usual local-yokel cover hits. I excluded a few of them as they are just "too Irish", if you know what I mean.

British band The Overlanders hit in Israel with My Life.

New Zealand band The Gremlins hit in their homeland with The Coming Generation.

South Africa had local hits from The Ad-Libs, Dickie Loader, and the Dream Merchants.

Danish band The Red Squares hit there with a cover of the Four Seasons song Sherry.

Norway's The Pussycats hit there with Just A Little Teardrop.

The rest are from Holland, which had local English-language hits from The Motions, Q '65, The Hunters, The Outsiders as well as competing records from Will Andy and Flemish singer Micky Day doing Oh Oh What a Kiss.
