Louis was one of the biggest acts of the 1940's and not only his music, but his performance, was very influential on the coming rock 'n' roll era. Collating the recordings of Louis presents a conundrum as despite being signed to Decca throughout the 1940's, he made many other recordings for which little documentation exists. He recorded for Decca's World Transcription Service, V-Discs, Armed Forces Radio Service's Jubilee program, live radio broadcasts, film soundtracks and so on. These recordings were done under a different set of union rules in regards to royalties so it wasn't important who played on these recordings or when and where they were done. While some information is available, a lot is not. This makes it impossible to create any kind of a reliable chronology so I stuck to his Decca sides and at the end will place all the 1940's supplemental recordings (that I have - no idea how complete they are) together in alphabetical order. All files are tagged with photos of the labels, but I couldn't locate all of them so made some very obvious fake ones up just so something shows on the display.
