Garnet Mimms - Chronological 1958 - 1970

The chronology of these recordings is a bit sketchy as United Artists was apt to assign a new master number to a tape every time they took it off the shelf.
Some recordings have as many as three different master numbers but they all sound the same to me.
Using what limited, and inaccurate, information is available, I did my best to assemble them in a fairly reasonable manner.

RUNAWAY LOVER - everyone wants Runaway Lover by Garnet Mimms. Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, no such song exists. The title was printed on the sleeve and labels of the LP Cry Baby and 11 Other Hits, however, the first song on side 2 is not Runaway Lover, but is actually the song The Truth Hurts.
So.......the truth does hurt. There is no song Runaway Lover unless the LP pictured above is a very rare mistake. (I hope not. When I was finished with it I threw it in the trash.) Don't believe me? Prove me wrong.

Garnet Mimms was a wonderful singer with a great voice. Not all wonderful singers have great voices and not all wonderful singers get great songs to record. Garnet's career and place in music history was tremendously aided by his working association with Jerry Ragovoy. Jerry was in a very select company of people that were knee-deep in that muddy water between Gospel and Soul.  



All files properly titled and tagged and all 83 fall within a similar volume and EQ range.

    Thanks for easing my completist worries over missing out on 'Runaway Lover'! You might know this already but Discogs.com says that this track was released as a single

      Since "Good Old Gold" was fundamentally a bootleg operation, I'm assuming what was released on that record was also The Truth Hurts and not Runaway Lover.....until someone out there PROVES it was not by sharing a mp3 of the song. There's 3 copies available on Discogs from Benelux sellers ranging from about $14 to $90. I'm not wasting my money on another copy of The Truth Hurts, but I would think one of these avid Mimms collectors would since they insist the song exists. Like I said, prove it. I would love to add another Garnet song. Great singer.
